Charles Dickens was born in 1812 and died in 1870. He lived, during his 58
years,through a tumultuous period of social and political change throughout the
world.Professionally, he was an enormously prolific writer, producing 20 novels,
and innumerable plays, short stories and essays. His personal life was full as well;
after an insecure childhood, he married at 24 and had 10 children.
